Carry the EARTH inspired a hiking team to raise funds for environmental causes. Team members Lisa Larson, Benida Solow, and Ronnie Siegel got into gear to hike 8.4 miles through the City of Los Angeles in an urban fundraiser sponsored by Sierra Club called Hike LA.
Over 100 people participated hiking a total of over 500 miles on Sept.28 through the city of Los Angeles and raised $24,603.84 to protect our planet. The money raised will go towards Sierra Club’s mission, with half of that money staying locally in Los Angeles to support initiatives to fight pollution, reduce waste, and seek alternative forms of power and electricity. Carry the EARTH team’s donation ranked as the second highest group raising $975 by over a dozen contributors.
It was not only environmentally rewarding but we had a great day. The special treat was to meet one of the most experienced female hikers in the US, Liz Thomas, who is now carrying EARTH 33!
